Marketing done the proven way, not by guesswork

The open-source project marketingskills, by coreyhaines31

“Marketing skills for Claude Code and AI agents. CRO, copywriting, SEO, analytics, and growth engineering.” — the project's own words, on GitHub

What it does
marketingskills is a set of reference playbooks your AI coding agent reads before doing marketing work — conversion optimization, copywriting, SEO, analytics and growth engineering — so instead of guessing at best practice, it works from the same frameworks a marketing consultant would use. You install the skills, write one short document describing your product, audience and positioning, and from then on the agent pulls in the right playbook automatically when you ask it to review a page, rewrite copy or plan a test. It doesn't run anything itself — it only changes how well your agent reasons about marketing tasks.

For
A founder or marketer working inside an AI coding agent who wants CRO, copywriting, SEO and analytics playbooks the agent can actually follow.
Not for
Not for a team with no live pages or product to optimize yet — it sharpens existing copy and pages, it doesn't invent a product or an audience for you.
Setup

Get it running

Paste this into the AI that runs on your computer. It does the install, checks it works, and tells you what to type first. If anything fails, paste the error back to it.

Paste into Claude Code
Install marketingskills (https://github.com/coreyhaines31/marketingskills) on this computer and get it working for me. I am not a developer; explain each step in one line as you go and never skip one. You are Claude Code, running on my machine.

1. Check what this machine already has (git, Python or Node as the project needs, Docker if the README says so). Tell me anything missing and install it, asking me before anything that needs my password.
2. Install it with `npx skills add coreyhaines31/marketingskills` — there is no repo to clone.
3. Configure it. If it needs an API key or a login, stop and ask me for it; never guess one and never store it anywhere except where the README says.
Tool-specific notes: Install with `npx skills add coreyhaines31/marketingskills`, or add just the skills you need with `npx skills add coreyhaines31/marketingskills --skill cro copywriting`.
No API keys or environment variables are needed.
Before first use, write `.agents/product-marketing.md` — a short description of the product, audience and positioning that every skill reads.
Verify it loaded by asking the agent to run a CRO review of one real page — if it references the framework by name, the skill is live.
If upgrading from an older version, delete the old skill folders first before reinstalling, per the README's upgrade notice.
4. Run the smallest test the README gives, and show me the output.
5. When it works, tell me what to type first, in one line, for this job: Write the context file first.
If anything fails, show me the exact error and fix it before going on.

What to point it at first

1

Write the context file first

Create the product-marketing context file describing your product, audience and positioning before anything else — every skill reads this, so a thin one gives thin output.

2

Run one CRO review

Ask the agent to review a real landing page against the CRO skill — good output names specific friction on that page, not generic conversion advice.

3

Check it against the actual framework

Before you act on any rewrite, ask which named principle or framework it's applying and confirm that reasoning holds for your page, not just that the copy reads well.

What it must never do unattended

  • It drafts. It never posts.
  • Never let it invent a number, a customer or a quote.

Find out where your ad money is leaking

You hand it your ad account exports from any of twelve platforms — Google, Meta, TikTok, LinkedIn, Microsoft, Reddit, Snapchat, X, Amazon, Apple, Pinterest and YouTube — and it turns them into the work a paid-media analyst would produce: a dated audit of what's actually happening in the account, a channel and budget plan, new ad copy and creative, and a performance report.
